FDA Inaction Concerning CBD Is Devastating the Hemp Market - Nothingbuthemp

Image
Industry experts cite the agency's refusal to establish regulatory guidelines for CBD as the leading cause for the sharp decrease in hemp cultivation and product manufacturing. According to a new study released by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA), all is not well in the world of hemp. As first reported by Marijuana Moment , the USDA's National Hemp Report shows substantial decreases in the value and cultivation of hemp across every measurable metric analyzed for 2022. Much of the blame for the dramatic contraction in the industry is being laid at the feet of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Earlier this year, FDA officials released a statement saying that it would no longer be regulating products containing the hemp-derived cannabinoid CBD due to a lack of "credible scientific data" concerning the safety of CBD products.       Without that critical information, FDA said it would be unable to create health and safety guidelines for products containing the p...

Arkansas lawmakers passed a measure prohibiting the sale of products containing synthetic forms of THC, including delta-8. This week the number of states joining the list to ban the controversial delta-8 THC isomer grew larger. As first reported by Norfolk's 13Newsnow.com , the Virginia legislature approved Governor Glenn Youngkin's amendments to a measure designed to outlaw the sale of products containing all forms of synthetic THC variants, most notably delta-8 THC.   In addition to the actions taken in Virginia, the Arkansas state legislature has also approved a bill to outlaw the production and sale of all hemp-derived intoxicating substances, including delta-8. According to numerous media outlets , the Senate passed the measure with a resounding 30-1 vote after incorporating two amendments added in the House.     The measure's author, Sen. Tyler Dees (R), said the purpose of the ban on all items containing synthetic forms of THC is to protect the children of Ark...

American Pro Sports Leagues Embrace CBD And Cannabis - Nothingbuthemp

Image
The NBA and MLB are leading America's popular sports leagues in openly supporting hemp and marijuana products. In the not-too-distant past, associating professional sports organizations with plant medicines, like marijuana and hemp-derived CBD , would have been viewed as a calamitous detriment and by no means a positive for those vaunted leagues. Oh, how times and attitudes have changed. Last week, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Major League Baseball made groundbreaking and historic announcements regarding new policies and ventures with companies in the hemp and cannabis industries.   According to multiple media outlets , the Chicago Cubs became the first MLB club to announce a new partnership with a CBD company last Friday. The team has reportedly inked a new marketing agreement with MYND DRINKS, a CBD sparkling beverage brand. Per the contractual arrangements, the company's products will be promoted via signage and "several in-game features" at the Cu...

Delta 9 THC Legal Hemp - Nothing But Hemp

Image
A pattern is beginning to emerge in states eager to take advantage of the legal hemp product market, and small business owners are paying for it. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards isn't happy about the state of hemp in his home state. As first reported by The Advocate this past weekend, Governor Edwards and many Louisiana state legislators are promising a renewed crackdown on unregulated hemp-derived THC products that can cause a person to get "high." Ironically, Edwards and Co. do not need to search very far for the cause of their consternation. In an attempt to bolster Louisiana's agricultural sector, the Governor and a majority of State House lawmakers may have inadvertently created a flourishing market of legal hemp-based THC products with potential intoxicating effects. Hemp products are wildly popular among Louisianans and enjoy broad bipartisan political support. Likewise, Louisiana farmers have been eager to gain a strong foothold in the hemp market. As a...
